Where We Are Today, Where We Go From Here . . .

On December 14, 2001, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) hosted the Executive Summit Meeting II which was attended by nine federal agencies, 10 state agencies, and the Metropolitan Planning Organization Advisory Council.  This group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (signed MOU link) agreeing to develop an Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) Process in Florida. The agencies endorsed the ETDM concept and agreed to establish, support, and implement the ETDM process within their respective agency to the extent feasible.

The FDOT and FHWA, in conjunction with these agencies, are currently completing the following activities to ensure full implementation of the ETDM Process beginning July 1, 2003:

  • ETDM Progress Report
  • Interactive ETDM Web site
  • ETDM Procedure Guide
  • Environmental Screening Tool (Interactive GIS database)

  • Individual Agency Operating Agreements
  • Agency Position Funding Agreements
  • ETDM Participant’s Training syllabus
